Construction of Belief Sets for Logic Programs and Default Theories

چکیده
We present a uniied approach to the construction of belief sets for logic programs with the classical connective of negation, disjunctive logic programs, and what we call arbitrary logic programs that contain an arbitrary formula in the head and arbitrary formulas in the premises of a program rule. The approach is based on a nondetermin-istic iterative operator constrained by a dynamic preference relation, which is drawn automatically during the iterative process. This iterative construction can be viewed as an inference-based extension to the stable model semantics in that every stable model with a well-founded preference relation is computed as an iterative answer set. For function-free datalog programs, the construction itself suggests a sound and complete proof procedure, and there exists a polynomial time algorithm for computing an iterative answer set. We compare this method with Brewka's method of determining priority preserving extensions and show that the formulation of arbitrary logic programming provides a desirable formalism for default reasoning.

The Modal Logic S4F, the Default Logic, and the Logic Here-and-There
The modal logic S4F provides an account for the default logic of Reiter, and several modal nonmonotonic logics of knowledge and belief. In this paper we focus on a fragment of the logic S4F concerned with modal formulas called modal defaults, and on sets of modal defaults — modal default theories. We present characterizations of S4F-expansions of modal default theories, and show that strong and...
متن کاملArgumentation semantics and belief change within logic programs
Belief change for ordered pairs of extended logic programs is studied in this paper. Several belief change operators are introduced. They map sets of belief sets of given logic programs to resulting sets of belief sets. A belief set is defined as the set of all consequences of a set of default literals. The work is focused on sound (undefeated) sets of default literals, which satisfy conditions...
متن کاملInnnitary Default Logic for Speciication of Nonmonotonic Reasoning A
In this paper we study constructions leading to the formation of belief sets by agents. We focus on the situation when possible belief sets are built incrementally in stages. We call an innnite sequence of theories that represents such a process a reasoning trace. A set of reasoning traces describing all possible reasoning scenarios for the agent is called a reasoning frame. Default logic by Re...
